Birthday Party

Mitzi and Jeff's daughter Claire turned 9 last week and had her birthday party last night at GreatSkate! It is so fun seeing her get so old! She even invited boys to her birthday party this year and there was a boy there that she kind of "likes". Oh the fun of being a 9 year old girl! I still can't believe though that she is already 9 because I remember the day she was born and sitting in Phil's Grill holding her as a tiny baby! Where has the time gone? By the time I ever have children (should the day come!?!) she will be old enough to babysit! Scary thought! Anyway, it was fun to be there and see her so happy and enjoying her friends. Happy Birthday Claire!!!

Margaritaville

Last night I was in heaven!! Mitzi and I went to the Jimmy Buffett concert out in Glendale at Cricket Pavillion! Anyone who knows me, knows that I love JB! I swear every time I see him I am like a child seeing Santa for the first time! This was Mitzi's first Jimmy Buffett experience so I probably said to her 100 times..."Isn't this the best!" I keep checking his website to see if he will be going to Vegas this fall like he usually does and Mitzi has said she would go again...so keep your fingers crossed for me that it happens!

STOMP

Thursday night I met my friend Carrie for dinner and then we went to Gammage at ASU to see the production STOMP! It was fantastic!! It really is amazing the things they used to create awesome music. They used brooms, lids, sand, garbage bags, chairs, inner tubes and matches just to name a few. It was very entertaining and parts were funny too. Both Carrie and I really liked it and I would recommend seeing it. Now we are looking forward to Wicked coming to Gammage next!!

Cute Cats

I went to to my friend Mitzi's on Wednesday afterwork to see the kittens her cat had. They were given a cat last year and it has been an outside cat and they were going to get her spayed and unfortunately waited a little too long because she came home one day and they noticed she was pregnant. Oops! They were going to bring her inside so she could deliver her kittens in the laundry room and not outside and the day they went out to get her and bring her in, surprise there she was in the dog kennel with 4 little kittens! Another oops! This was last Saturday (a week from today) so when I saw them they were only 4 days old. They were as small as little hamsters with their eyes not yet open! I was able to pick one up for just a tiny bit as they are very fragile and Mitzi's 4 year old niece was there who desperately wanted to hold one too. I figured it wasn't fair that I could and she couldn't so I set her down. How cute though...just fit in the palm of my hand! If I wasn't SO allergic (probably stupid to even pick one up but I was fine, just washed my hands afterwards), I would tell Mitzi I would take the little orange one. Minnie (the mom) had a white one, a cream one, an orange one and a black/grey one. Fun to see and I'll have to go back and see them again soon once their eyes are open. If only puppies and kittens stayed that small!! They are precious!

Bogey has an assignment

As I have written about before, Bogey and Jesse are both therapy dogs. Jesse has been certified since December of '07 and Bogey December of '08. Jesse and I visit a wonderful facility called Encore Senior Village. Due to the fact that Bogey has a bit more energy :) than Jesse, I am not sure he would do well in the same environment so Bogey is kind of a "special assignment" therapy dog. We were able to visit one lady one time and were going to make it a regular thing but unfortunately she passed away so we have been waiting for his next job. He has been assigned to a gentleman, "N". (I am not suppose to use names for privacy reason so we'll just call him N.) N has had a team visiting him who is unable to do it anymore and it just so happens that N used to breed beagles in his younger day so my volunteer coordinator thought it would be a perfect place for Bogey and I to go. It is great for Bogey because when you only visit one person, we are only there like 15-20 minutes versus Jesse who visits 6 cottages filled with residents and we are there an hour/hour and half.
Anyway, Bogey and I visited N for the first time Sunday and it went well. I think it will only get better as Bogey gets more familiar with the smells and the new enviornment. N really liked Bogey and when I asked him if we could come back and visit him again, he said please do. So we are already looking forward to visiting with N again and letting him enjoy some pure beagle energy and love!!
