2012 AH Golf season

I can hardly believe that the season is over but my first season of coaching is officially in the books!  I am looking forward to hopefully being the coach for the Ashley Hall golf team for many seasons!  This first one was a great experience!!   We had a great season and compared to previous seasons, we played significantly more matches and had two 18 hole tournaments.  For many of the girls this was their first time playing 18 holes so I was very proud of them for doing it twice!   Overall everyone really improved which I was excited to see and I am encouraged for next year.  Even more important than the golf, the girls are really sweet, nice girls.  I love how encouraging and supportive they are of each other as well as opponents.  They are all class acts and represent Ashley Hall well. Thanks for a great season ladies!  Go Panthers!!

Baby Shower FORE Quinn

At Rivertowne CC, our membership manager has become a good friend.  She is one of the people I look forward to seeing when I go to work there.  She is pregnant with her first baby so I couldn't let the opportunity pass to throw her a shower.  Myself and Jeannine who is our events coordinator threw the shower together.  The shower was for both staff and some members came as well.  We had a blast with all the planning and everything was great.  Everything was golf themed since Drew, her husband is a big golfer and since we obviously work at a golf course.  Now we are all anxiously waiting Quinn's arrival.  Congratulations Emzi and Drew, we are all thrilled for the two of you and can't wait to me your little guy!

SC vs. MU game

I have been looking forward to September 22nd for months now!  My Missouri Tigers came to South Carolina to play the Gamecocks!! It was such a fun day even though the game was a little tough to watch.  My sis, Joe and the kids and I all drove up to Columbia before the game to tailgate with my friend Meredith.  We had so much fun in their caboose and enjoying all the pre-game festivities.  The game was a big bummer for Missouri fans since we didn't play well at all but I was entertained and thrilled to be sitting in the Missouri section right in front of Truman the Tiger!  As you all know, at age 35 I still love Truman and he makes me smile!  So all in all it was a fun day and fun to experience with my family and friends!  Nice to know every two years, they will be here in SC so I get to do it again! Next game for me this year is driving to Tennessee in November.  I am already looking forward to seeing my tigers again!  M I Z

As soon as I entered the game, look who I saw....TRUMAN!!!

Junior League

This Past Sunday I had my first official Junior League meeting, IOC. (Initial Orientation Course)  The event was downtown at the American Theatre.  I am still getting my bearings about this whole thing and still getting to know people but I think in the long run it is going to be great.  Junior League is basically a big adult sorority. :) A large group of women who are bettering themselves, their communities and forging lifelong friendships.  As a provisional it should be a busy fun filled year and I am ready for it to begin!

PGA Championship

This past week South Carolina was lucky to be host to the PGA Championship.  Everyone was very excited to host this major not only in SC but at one of the best courses in the country, Ocean Course at Kiawah. I was lucky enough to take the day off on Thursday and go out there and then Saturday as well.  Thursday I went with some friends and Saturday my brother in law and nephew joined me.  It was a lot of fun seeing the players close up and watching them play such a difficult course.  I was able to briefly see Peter which was nice.  He was busy with commentating and working with Paul Casey after his rounds so it was brief.  I was just happy to give him a hug and say hi! A fun few days of beautiful weather and golf, doesn't get much better than that!

Hilton Head Getaway

Last weekend I drove down to Hilton Head, SC to visit my best friend from high school Jamie!  They go to Hilton Head every summer for a week so this year I came for the weekend.  My big request was to go to the Salty Dog, so Friday night after I arrived we went there for dinner.  It was so fun.  It is definitely a tourist trap but I am glad I got to experience it.  We spent the entire next day at the beach which was so nice and relaxing.  Jamie and I got to catch up and just enjoy hanging out.  Sunday before I hit the road back to Charleston we went to Harbor Town and had lunch.  Of course during the visit Jamie and I laughed just like we did when we were 15.  Somethings will never change and I love it!!  Thanks Finch family for another fun visit.  Love you guys!

Land and Water Adventures

I signed up for a 6 week RUN/SUP clinic.  There are 9 of us in the group and we meet every Wednesday at6:30 for 6 weeks.  We start out the evening by running and usually doing some sort of interval training.  We then get in the water and stand up paddle board.  I have to admit I joined the clinic more for the SUP than I did the RUN!!  :)  I am not a running fan....I am not only slow but don't really enjoy running.  But I am doing it!  This was my first experience stand up paddle boarding and that on the other hand I LOVE!!  It is certainly not easy, especially when going against the current but so fun!  We go out on the water at a beautiful time of the day which makes it all the more fun too. It is certainly a core and arm exercise and takes some concentration but it is lots of fun! Looking forward to the next few weeks and taking in as much as I can!

We are all ready to get started

July Visitors

The month of July started off a great way!  July 1st my best friend from college Linda and her husband Steve and their two kids Jack and Julia came to visit for a week. It was a week filled with lots of laughs, smiles and good times.  Their visit included dinner at Shem Creek and Dolphin watching, lots of beach time, trips downtown and a trip to the South Carolina aquarium and turtle hospital tour.  They were here for almost a full week and yet the time seemed to fly by and before I knew it they were on their way back to St.Louis.  I LOVED having them and had so much fun showing them my new life in the lowcountry.  Love you Doherty's and hope you'll make it back for another visit again soon!!

July 20th brought my second July visitor and one more dear and special friend from college, Jen Hammond!  We had a great four days together as well and I got to play tour guide once more since this was Jen's first visit to the lowcountry too.  Our visit consisted of, Dinner at Water's Edge on Shem Creek, a Beach Day, dinner downtown at Blossom, drinks on the rooftop bar of grill 225, shopping downtown at the market, carriage ride, boating with my sis and her family and manicures and pedicures.  We made sure we packed as much in as possible in her short visit and definitely had fun!  I love you Jen and it means the world to me that you took time to come visit!  I can't wait to see you again soon!!
